HISTORY OF NUNOFELT/formerly known as eneefabricdesign:
Nuno felting is a new, very intricate fiberart technique for felting onto silk, silk crepe and cotton voile, to create a brand new fabric with textures and designs that are almost like glass-making. The final design depends on what happens during the wet-felting process, which takes several hours.
The intense colors in all nuno-fabric designs are created by the 40% shrinkage that takes place during felting.
All of my designs start out with silk, crepe or cotton voile that is first hand-dyed using a cold water, non-toxic process, and might then be handpainted with heat-set silk paints.
Each nuno felted scarf, wrap, garment and bag is individually designed and felted, and can take 2-3 days to finish up all the fine details.
Don't let the word "felt" fool you; nuno felted scarves, wraps and garments are for every season of the year. My Spring and Summer designs are felted with 20% to up to 60% BAMBOO and silk fibers (mixed into 100% merino wool and other wool fibers), which make the scarves light and suitable for warmer temperatures. There is no other nuno-felter that I know of who used Bamboo Fibers in their designs.
My Winter Nunos are created with up to 60% REAL CASHMERE.
These Nuno Scarves are extremely easy to care for. Handwash, line dry, perhaps a hot iron, is all you need. Light and airy, they travel well and can be rolled into a tiny package for your suitcase.
They are an incredible accent to any outfit, but really pop on that essential little black dress. Wearable art that will start a lot of conversations--because the more you look at them, the more you see.
In business for 8 years, Nunofelt has sold over 9 thousand designs online, at craft shows and special events, and in galleries and boutiques.
